Art competition


The visual arts competition “Learn about NATO!” is organized by the NATO  Summit Latvia Task Force, the Latvian Trans-Atlantic organization LATO, Arts educational center “Trīs krāsas”. The informative support to the competition comes from the Center of Educational Contents and Examinations.

The objective of the competition is to promote civic society activity and their interest in political processes, stimulating students’ interest in NATO.

Everybody wants to fell safe with regard to the future. NATO Alliance is the force that lies at the foundation of Latvian development with security guarantees of 26 countries. The door to NATO is still open for new member states. The most important task of the Riga summit is to discuss and to evaluate the NATO activities and possibilities that are being adjusted to international situation and security. During the summit in Riga the Heads of States and governments will discuss the future expansion issues of the Alliance. The summit in Riga is an opportunity to show the world the capital of Latvia, Riga, to present the values of Latvian society, its culture and to extend its heartfelt welcome to the world.

Latvian pupils as well as pupils from Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, Georgia and the Ukraine – the aspiring NATO member states - are invited to partake in the competition.

The competition will be judged by a jury of representatives from the NATO Summit Latvia Task Force, Latvian Artists Union, Latvian Institute and from the Arts educational center “Trīs krāsas”.

The works shall be categorized by age groups: the works of 1-4 grade pupils and those of 5-9 grade pupils. In the each group several works shall be awarded a prize.

The best competition works will be presented in Riga, in November during the Open House event at Daile theatre on November 25-26.
