The Minister of Defence to participate in television programme about NATO Summit on Rēzekne Television

On Tuesday, June 27, the Minister of Defence Atis Slakteris leaves for Rēzekne to participate in Rēzekne Television programme called ”Honour to Serve Latvia!” devoted to the upcoming NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government in Riga, November 2006. 

The programme starts at 7.15 PM and within the framework of it the Minister of Defence shall inform inhabitants of Latgale region about NATO Summit preparation process of the, its importance for Latvia, as well as answer questions of  the audience about NATO Summit and aspects of the defence system of Latvia. At the television studio together with the Minister also the Secretary General of the Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO) Mārtiņš Mūrnieks and the chief of NATO Summit Press Centre Elīna Lazdāne will be present telling about events for the Latvian public before and during the Summit, as well as opportunities for people in Latgale to contribute to the NATO Summit organization process.

Within the framework of the programme ”Honour to Serve Latvia!” its audience will have an opportunity to participate in a competence and answering a question about the NATO Summit win a prize from the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government Task Force.  

Decision to organize the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government in Riga  was taken in December, 2005. Wherewith for to days – November 28 and 29 – Riga becomes the centre of discussions on international security policy where important decisions on NATO development in future will be taken.
