NATO Summit Planning Unit to visit Riga

In order to discuss the progress of the Riga Summit of NATO Heads of State and Government organization NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government Planning Unit from the NATO Headquarters under the guidance of Dr. Bernd Goetze visits Riga from June 27 – 30.  

Within the framework of the visit representatives of the Alliance will meet with the chief of the NATO Summit Task Force Edgars Rinkēvičs and staff members, as well as visit the venues of the Summit. During the meeting the establishment and equipping of the Summit venue, provision of opportunities for media and the press, as well as the issues of transport, security and protocol will be discussed.   

In June 28 - 29 the chief of the NATO Planning Unit Dr. Berntam Getse will meet with the Minister of Defence Atis Slakteris, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Pēteris Ustubs, Adviser to the State President on Foreign Affairs Andrejs Pildegovičs and Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ilgvars Kļava. 

Preparing for NATO Summits of Heads of State and Government the NATO Summit Planning Unit usually visits the host country. The Unit will arrive in Latvia for several times in order to discuss the preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Riga in November together with Latvian representatives.
