The Young Leaders presented their Proposals for the NATO Secretary General

November 27 Riga, Latvia - Today the participants of the Young Leaders Forum have finalised their proposals and handed them to the NATO Secretary General Mr Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

The Secretary General in his address to the Young Leaders underlined NATO's commitment to protect democratic values and outlined the main issues on the agenda of the Heads of States and Government convening for the North Atlantic Council meeting tomorrow.

Mr Jaap de Hoop Scheffer underscored the importance of active engagement of the successor generation in tackling today's challenges and welcomed stimulating debates contained in the Young Leaders Proposals.

Later today, the Young Leaders will join the Riga Conference session "Afghanistan - New Challenges for NATO's Transformation" and meet the President of the United States Mr. George Bush.
